Skopelos island, North Sporades, Greece

SPOTTED IN SPRING 2001

Springtime in Skopelos offers travellers lower prices, empty beaches, less people, and wildflowers as the island awakes from winter. If you've ever considered a spur-of-the-moment trip to Skopelos, do it now. Throughout April and into May, spring wildflowers will be in bloom, brightening the whole island. Visitors who are interested in plants will be amazed by the abundant variety of different shrubs and flowers (freesias, orchids, poppies, irises, lilies, etc.) grown here, some of them endemic.
