Blackbird  (Turdus merula)

Abundant and bold where not hunted, Blackbirds are found in forest thickets, parks and gardens, even in the town. Alone or win pairs they will readily form small flocks in the winter. 

  • Length: 25 cm

  • Description: Males are pitch-black with bright yellow bill. Females are brown. Juveniles are lighter in colour and more spotted than females.

  • Feed: Insects, snails and earthworms but also berries and variety of fruits.
